Hi from the tropics of a wet North Canterbury. Well I think I know what a stunned mullet feels liks cos that is how I feel today! I had a lovely sleep in this morning and still feel very lazy with not much ‘get up and go’, thank goodness I didn’t have to work today.
What can I say about ScrapCamp? It was fantastic and awesome and fun. We had a lovely goodie bag which had a trio pack of Bazzill cardstock, patterned paper, tea coffee etc, fibres and my mind has gone blank for the other bits and pieces, oh yes choccies or lollies.
Jenny put a game together called ‘get to know your fellow scrapbookers’. She had purchased individual items that we had to link with a person like jar of marmite for Wendy, cat for Katrina, dog for Irene (which I didn’t get) etc etc. It was great fun.
We had a soft toy called ‘Scrappy’ and every time you finished a layout you called out for Scrappy and held on to him until he was ready to be passed on again or if you still had him when the timer went off, you were entitled to pick a prize from the Scrappy bag. Also when you completed a layout you put your name into the box for a draw at the end of ScrapCamp.
Jo, sub editor of Up2Scrap taught us a lovely heritage layout and the papers were courtesy of Up2 and very nice they were. Jo was very patient with us giving us all individual assistance and tips and the end results were all so different and very beautiful.
Before lunch on Sunday we all laid out our completed layouts and we had to choose our 3 favourites and also our favourite simple layout.
During the course of the weekend most of us made a card and Wendy won that category. We were also given a wooden coaster to decorate and some beauties were turned out. Some of us made an angel with safety pins and beads.
The food was delish and of course our ‘black coffee’, ‘pink lemonade’ and ‘apple juice’ went down a treat!
Great game of Rugby and great comadarie throughout the weekend!
Katrina and I were to fly out of Wellington at 7.15pm but we had such a good run from Otaki to the airport that Jenny dropped us off at 4.15pm and at her suggestion we enquired whether we could change our flight. A very grumpy staff member told us that our flights were actually non transferable but as Ch airport had been closed and was currently open then she would ‘do us a favour’ and got us onto one that was to depart at 5.15pm! It took us an eternity to check in our luggage but we eventually got it through. Ch airport was marginal when we took off but the Captain did a great job and got us down. As you already know my tote didn’t make the same flight as me, despite being checked in alongside Katrina’s. However, it was a happy reunion when the First Direct taxi driver pulled up my drive at 10pm with personal delivery, courtesy of Air New Zealand – watch their profits drop this week!
Once again I had a very, very foggy drive home at times down to 60kph with headlights on low beam and following the centre line. To put the headlights on a high beam just made it worse. Despite all that I got home just in time to see the start of Dancing with the Stars so what more could I ask for?
Well that is a brief long summary of the weekend. Oh and did I tell you that………………..? It was the team that wore red and black ......from Irene
