ScrapCamp 2008

Is confirmed! A three day weekend over ANZAC Day - 24th - 27th April. Those who come for the third night (actually the first) will just split the costs and so far there are 12 ladies wishing to do three nights. That means if YOU still wish to book in, please let me know ASAP

It's all over!

But it was a great weekend. Yes I stressed a lot about people who cancelled, and people who booked and cancelled all in two weeks, and wooden letters that did not arrive, deliveries that were late, and finances that were stretched to the very limits but it was a FANTASTIC weekend. All the ladies were impressed with the goody bags which represented a retail value of at least $95 and many people were using bits from the bags all weekend.



The Tool Taxis from Fiskars were a hit as were the baby Xyrons from Esselte.


The pens from Scrapbook Outlet were great and the piles of stuff from Scrapbook Essentials both as gifts and to buy were fantastic.



Lots of scrapping got done and the wooden letters class by Jo was a wonderful success and represents a retail value of about $40 - thanks Jo - we know what value we got

The plane from Christchurch was delayed by 15 minutes and the luggage by FIFTY! That meant we were a bit late getting to Sharlene's for lunch. We played the toilet paper game - each person had to take "enough" and then for each square had to tell us something about herself. Irene took one; Jo took many!

Tania and Suazanne scrapped until 5.00am the first day and 5.30am the second. Self-catering was great and easy and I got compliments for the food. Porridge for breakfast remains a hit!

It is a pity that Forest Lakes has become run down and very grubby as it is an ideal venue for our purposes

Will there be a next time? Yes .......because I want a weekend away!

Three Weeks to go

I am so excited about ScrapCamp! With less than three weeks to go here is some information for you. Instead of each of us bringing a plate for dinner for Friday night, I thought if we each pay $4 I’ll pick up some roast chickens, wedges and coleslaw on the way up. Thanks to all those who have made final payments and if you still need to pay some money can you do that quite soon?

Here’s some more information to help you with your planning:
ScrapCamp Programme

Friday

5.30 – 6.pm: Arrive, unpack
6pm: Dinner – (Bring $4), and a bit of “getting to know you” fun
7pm: Scrapping until whenever you want to go to bed

Saturday

Whenever you like: Breakfast consisting of toast and spreads, porridge
After breakfast:Scrapping
12.30pm: Lunch – make your own wraps
After lunch: Class by Jo Burney, and then more scrapping
6pm: Dinner – pasta and mince
After dinner: Scrapping

Sunday

Whenever you like: Breakfast as per Saturday morning
After breakfast: Scrapping
12.30pm: Lunch - quiche and salad then pack up and prizegiving
3pm: Depart

Fruit is provided; feel free to bring anything extra (chocolate cake)
Bring anything extra: special coffee, tea, coke etc
Bring your favourite CDs – can someone bring a CD player?
Bring your own linen, towels, toiletries etc pillows are provided – bring your own pillowslip
Bring a torch if you need to walk down passageways at night
There are some lovely walks and hopefully the weather will hold. There is also a pool for those brave enough!

Paint – no more than a test pot quantity
Patterned paper scraps
Buttons, ribbon, lace, etc – whatever will look good on your “word”


*There will be a Sizzix machine: you’re welcome to use it for a small donation
*Please feel free to bring supplies to swap or give away

For Clarification

The ScrapCamp that I run is not run as a business neither is it affiliated in any way to any scrapbook shop. Donations of prizes etc are requested and given with no strings attached. It is essentially a group of friends who get together for a weekend where costs are shared. This is by invitation: there is no element of entitlement.

This year's class!!

Taught as usual by the wonderful Jo Burney

Have a look at page 78 of the December (Spring) 06 Up2Scrap. Some of you may have done a class similar to this but of course our Jo’s class will be spectacular

You will be supplied with up to four letters of your choice and they may be joined up

As everyone will want a different colour/design etc on the words, you will need to supply your own paint and patterned or plain paper. Now remember the paper can be scraps and the paint can be a test pot. Also bring along any bits of ribbon, lace, buttons etc that you would like to use on your letters …this is a great way to get rid of all those little bits you’ve been saving!

I need your choice of letters by 16th February or I will order “Life” in Bookman Old Style for you

You may choose whatever font you like and up to four letters each. Letters will be 150mm high by 12mm thick

If you want joined letters, you may choose:
am, ate, Joy, Eat, Love, Live, Noel, Star. Only available in Bookman Old Style and Ravie

If you want more letters or a different font, please email me for the extra costs. Extra costs will be about $3.50 per letter and more if they’re joined or a special die has to be cut for a different word. There are some names available – email me and I’ll let you know.

I am trying to load the fonts as they should appear, but Blogger converts them all to its own font. If you have any idea how I can do this, please let me know
