Jen - this one's for you!

Now some of you know that my lovely sister-in-law is called "Jenny" (isn't he cute?) and we married brothers so we have the same name! My SIL also so scraps so we always have lots to discuss. Jenny watches our ScrapCamp blog every week and I know that she wishes she was coming with us (I do too) - maybe next year, Jen!

Prizes, prizes, prizes!

Yes, I have some really nice prizes to give away; I'm not going to tell you all of them, and there will be a limit on how many you can win. However, I will tell you about one prize now - the very kind people at Fiskars are giving us a Shape Cutter with four templates etc and the prize is for the best description of Why I Love My Fiskars Cutter/s - and this can be a description of any/all of your Fiskars cutters......Euro trimmer, Soft touch, general purpose scissors etc. Bring it to Camp and we'll vote on it there.

Another prize is the grand weekend prize - every time you finish a l/o you put your name into a box and we will draw the prize winner just before we leave on Sunday. And if you do the journalling as well, you will get a bonus entry.

A third prize is kindly donated by Irene .....and I'm not telling you much more except to say that if you're an eyelet lover this this one's for you!

Important details (like food)

As there are some new people coming along, I thought I’d just let everyone know a few details again

Accommodation: everyone has their own room except Marie and Joan who are sharing. I have put Janice, Sara and Sue in the Top Flat, which is separate accommodation just a short walk away from Lake Lodge (you may like to bring a torch with you) – I hope that’s okay with you three?
There are eight bathrooms in Lake Lodge and one in the Top Flat. I have grouped people in Lake Lodge as follows:
Marie, Joan, Jess
Paula, Kate
Wendy, Julie
Kris, Joh
Sharlene, Leigh
Sharyn, Haley
Jenny, Irene
Jo, Katrina
One person out of each pair/three may like to bring a hand towel to leave in the bathroom for the duration

Food: We have to provide our own meal on Friday night, so it will just be a pot luck meal (maybe you should let me know what you’d like to bring so we don’t all bring the same thing!). They provide lunch at 12 pm and dinner at 5.30pm. They supply bread, jam, butter, cereal, oats (yes, I’ll be making porridge again) for us to make our own breakfast. They also provide milk, tea, coffee, sugar, fruit and a few biscuits. If you’d like to bring a small slice/cake to share during the weekend, that would be great. If you want anything else, please feel free to bring it. Forest Lakes does not allow alcohol on their premises. As we work in the dining room, we either eat outside, or at our places or there is a lounge upstairs

Transport: If you would like to arrange to travel together, please feel free to do so

What to bring

This is a reminder of what you need to bring:

* All scrapbook supplies – there will be some supplies for sale
* Linen (sheets, towel, pillowslip, duvet/sleeping bag)
* Toiletries
* Something for a shared meal on Friday night. Either pot luck bring a plate, or we decide what we want and then everyone brings something – let me know what you think
* Slice or biscuits etc to share during the weekend

* Photo for Jo's class

* Laughs and smiles

Exciting news!

Our own Jo Burney, who is coming to Camp with us, will also be teaching a class on Saturday afternoon!! The class is a heritage l/o; I've never done one so I'm really looking forward to it! Up2Scrap are kindly supplying us with their heritage line patterned paper http://www.up2scrap.co.nz/scrapbook_papers.php . Each person will also be supplied with six pieces of Bazzill c/s as well as other interesting bits and pieces. You will need to bring a photo portrait style size 13cm x 18cm approximately. This is going to be a feminine l/o so a photo of a lady or girl would be preferable. Also, some of us have old embroidered or crocheted dressing table doilies - bring this along as it will be added to the l/o. Even better if it belonged to the lady in the photo! You may have other old bits and pieces eg dark coloured postage stamps - bring them along too. Of course if you don't have a photo, don't worry the photo can be added later. By the way, the $2 shop sells crocheted doilies should you not have one that you want to use and your local Op Shop would also be a great source. I will go down to mine and buy up a few for those who aren't able to get one.

Today is .....

...exactly two months to go!! How exciting is that? (Now I'm sounding like one of the visiting American s/bookers.) I have decided the only way that I can get a lot of scrapping done is to have a plan. Whether that plan is page kits like Raewyn or just a set of photos that you want to scrap, it's a plan. I started doing page kits but still have some from months ago. I n January, I scrapped eight l/os - not because I had page kits, but because I decided that I wanted to finish all the boys' birthdays that they had had in New Zealand. And because I had a plan, that's what I did. Yesterday, I did almost nothing and it was only thanks to Sharlene that I did htree l/os; because I had no plan.

So whatever works for you, you should be spending April planning. Printing photos, sorting then out into what you want to scrap, possibly even finding the matching embellishments or memorabilia. Start deciding what c/s you want to use. Even start printing your journalling. Spend a few evenings browsing through your Becky Higgins Sketch book or other sketches and write down the ones that appeal to you. For most of us, it's school holidays soon and possibly some time to take more photos (!) or spend the time planning.
